The context in question is that of residential care homes (RSA), with a focus on the need to transform them from facilities exclusively reserved for non-self-sufficient older adults in the advanced stages of ageing and end-of-life into spaces of community life and reference for all. The project, initiated by seven facilities in the Province of Lecco, spans two years (November 2024-December 2026) and is funded by the Fondazione comunitaria del Lecchese and the Fondazione Fratelli Frassoni di Lecco. Its aim is to promote collective well-being and to mitigate the risk of isolation associated with ageing and institutionalisation. Engagement with secondary school students and local young people seeks to harness the educational and social potential of intergenerational relationships. The development of replicable intervention models, involving local stakeholders within the broader framework of territorial social policies, is intended to support the implementation of effective and sustainable actions that may continue beyond the project’s conclusion.
